Medical & Treatment Disclaimer

What permanent lip makeup involves, what it does not promise, and when to speak to a medical professional rather than to a studio.

01

This is a cosmetic treatment, not a medical one

Defined PMU is a permanent makeup studio. Permanent makeup places pigment into the skin; it is a cosmetic procedure, and the studio is not a healthcare provider.

Nothing on this website is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a judgement about whether a treatment is safe for you. If you have a condition, take medication, or are unsure how either relates to a skin procedure, ask a doctor — not a website.

02

Suitability is decided in person

Before any pigment work you complete a health questionnaire, and the practitioner reads it before your appointment. Every appointment then starts with a consultation.

The practitioner decides whether treatment goes ahead — not this website, and not software. If treatment is not appropriate for you, it will not be carried out, and you will not be charged for it.

03

What the studio needs to know about

Some things change what is possible, or when:

  • Treatment is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Lip permanent makeup can trigger cold sores in people who are prone to them. If you have a history of cold sores, speak to a medical professional before treatment.
  • Recent lip filler may mean waiting before treatment. Tell the studio about filler history when you book.

This is not a complete list of everything that matters, which is exactly why the questionnaire and the consultation exist. Tell the practitioner about your health honestly, including anything you are not sure is relevant.

04

What a result will and will not be

Permanent makeup results vary depending on skin type, undertone, lifestyle, healing and aftercare. A top-up appointment is recommended for the best healed result.

Colour immediately after treatment is not the healed colour. The before-and-after photographs on this site are labelled immediately after treatment because that is when they were taken — the studio does not present them as healed results, and does not promise you a particular one.

05

Aftercare is part of the treatment

You are given aftercare guidance at the studio, specific to your lips and what was done. Following it affects how the pigment settles and how the skin recovers. The aftercare page explains what to expect; the instructions you are given in person are the ones to follow.

06

If something concerns you afterwards

Contact the studio if the healing is not going as described to you. The practitioner would far rather hear from you early than find out later.

If you have signs of infection, an allergic reaction, or any symptom that worries you — spreading redness or swelling, heat, discharge, fever, or difficulty breathing — seek medical care. In Finland, call 112 in an emergency, or contact your local health service. Do not wait for the studio to reply first.
